SEIKO TYPE II — Vintage Japanese Quartz
This is one of those vintage Seiko designs that just gets better with age.
The TYPE II series has developed a strong following among vintage Seiko enthusiasts, and it’s easy to understand why. This particular case shape is especially attractive — sharp, architectural, and unmistakably 1970s Japanese design.
At 35mm wide × 41mm long, the proportions are absolutely fantastic. Compact by modern standards, yet the broad case and integrated-looking silhouette give it much more presence on the wrist than the numbers suggest. It’s a size that feels incredibly fresh today.
The clean white dial, bold black indices, red Sunday display, and angular stainless-steel case create a beautifully balanced, almost minimalist look.
Powered by a Seiko quartz movement, this comes from the fascinating era when Japanese quartz technology was changing the watch industry — yet Seiko was still putting enormous effort into case design, typography, and small details.
