This is one of those vintage watches that reminds you just how experimental watchmaking could be in the 1970s.
The TECHNOS Kaiser Signal is an exceptionally unusual Swiss automatic watch, instantly recognizable by the small red signal indicator at 6 o’clock.
At first glance, it looks almost like an electronic LED light — but it isn’t. The flashing effect is created mechanically by the movement itself, with no LED or battery involved. It’s a wonderfully eccentric piece of 1970s engineering.
Even more importantly, finding a surviving Kaiser Signal with this mechanical red signal still functioning correctly is extremely rare today. On this example, the signal mechanism is working properly.
The watch also has a spectacular period design: a warm brown-to-gold gradient dial, bold applied hour markers, a sculptural faceted crystal, and a beautifully integrated stainless-steel case and bracelet. Everything about it captures the futuristic optimism of 1970s watch design.
Despite its dramatic appearance, the case measures approximately 38 mm, giving it an excellent presence without feeling excessively large. The bracelet can accommodate a wrist of approximately 24 cm, making it unusually versatile for a vintage watch.
